I became a fan of Fridge sometime last year when I accidentally found their shop off of Pl. Trzech Krzyży. They've expanded quite a bit since then, not to mention gathering a few big awards from Warsaw's top fashion and beauty mags. So it's no wonder they’ve moved house. The new Fridge shop is a bit further from the centre of town but then again, Wola really is where everything is starting to happen nowadays, isn't it?
Confused, nonetheless, by the exact location of Copper Street (aka ul. Miedziana), I enlisted the help of my motorized mum. She was, of course, thrilled to come along and investigate this promise of pure, all-natural cosmetics.
The name Fridge comes from the ephemeral concept behind the cosmetics. Because the products are made with all-natural ingredients and essential oils, they only have a 2-3 month shelf life, extended slightly if you keep them in the fridge. If I wasn't convinced last year, I certainly am after this visit to the new shop. The new space is larger, brighter and more advanced. A glass panel gives you a peek into the lab where all the magical concoctions are mixed and there's a special treatment room in the back where beauty mavens can indulge in face and body treatments. I've seriously got to get myself down for one of the clarifying facials and exfoliating rubdown.
In the meantime, I splurged on products, starting with a surprisingly sensual tomato perfume (yes, tomato!), the orange-scented, reflecting body lotion and a face cream simply called "The Face Cream." These products are addictive, full of lovely, delicate scents based on rose, honey, lemon, ginger and many more. There are scrubs, body lotions, face lotions, perfumes and even a deodorant, including some products tailored specifically for men and others for kids.
And if you're looking for the ultimate eye cream — one that soothes and nourishes without stinging or feeling too greasy, this is the place to find it. Pure beauty isn't cheap — prices here range from about zł.100-400 but quality does have its price, after all… (AL)
